Demeter docs
Demeter runs managed Cardano APIs, called ports, on mainnet, preprod and preview. You create a port in the Console, and it gives you an endpoint and an API key that work with the open-source clients you already use.
Which port answers which job
| Job | Port | Libraries | Docs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Read chain data through a Blockfrost provider | Blockfrost | Mesh, Lucid Evolution, Blaze, @blockfrost/blockfrost-js | Blockfrost |
| Query UTxOs by address or pattern | Kupo | Lucid Evolution Kupmios, any HTTP client | Kupo |
| Submit transactions and query the ledger | Ogmios (Kupmios with Kupo) | Lucid Evolution Kupmios, @cardano-ogmios/client | Ogmios |
| Stream blocks or follow the tip | UTxO RPC | @utxorpc/sdk, grpcurl | UTxO RPC |
| Resolve and build tx3 transactions | TRP | trix, tx3-sdk | TRP |
Hosts and keys
{network} is cardano-mainnet, cardano-preprod or cardano-preview.
{key} is the port's API key.
- Blockfrost:
https://{network}.blockfrost-m1.dmtr.host; key in thedmtr-api-keyheader, or as the first host label:https://{key}.{network}.blockfrost-m1.dmtr.host. - Kupo:
https://{network}-v2.kupo-m1.dmtr.host; key in thedmtr-api-keyheader, or as the first host label:https://{key}.{network}-v2.kupo-m1.dmtr.host. - Ogmios:
wss://{network}-v{version}.ogmios-m1.dmtr.host(version 6 or 7, TLS on 443); key in thedmtr-api-keyheader, or as the first host label:wss://{key}.{network}-v{version}.ogmios-m1.dmtr.host. - UTxO RPC:
{network}.utxorpc-m1.demeter.run:443(gRPC over TLS); key in thedmtr-api-keyheader only. - TRP:
https://{network}.trp-m1.demeter.run; key in thedmtr-api-keyheader only.
Networks
Every port runs on cardano-mainnet, cardano-preprod and cardano-preview.
You pick the network when you create the port, and each port serves one
network.
Limits
Each port page lists its limits: the Free tier first, then the paid tiers (Flexible, Pro I, Pro II). TRP is on the Free tier only, as its paid tiers are not published yet. Prices and the throughput you choose are also shown in the Console before you create a port.
Getting a key
- Sign in at
https://console.demeter.run. A first project is created for you if you have none. - Create a port of the kind you need and pick its network.
- The port's page shows its endpoint and its API key.
Keep the key out of source code. The examples on these pages read it from the
DEMETER_API_KEY environment variable.
